Justice Assistance's mission is to strengthen the community by providing a unique mix of innovative and critical services to assist our state's justice system in a way that builds the capacity of the people we care for to live safe, productive lives.
A twenty-two-year-old young man who struggled to find a place to lay his head each night. From couch to couch and odd job to odd job, he struggled to resist the temptation of the streets and fast money. Then one bad decision brought him the District Court and received a filing to be monitored by Justice Assistance. This led to a referral to the CORES Program. He was assessed by the individual members of the CORES team and was found to be smart, ambitious, resilient and the father of two young sons. The team showered him with the resources that positioned him to: Work at Block Island for the summer, enroll in trade school and pursue his GED. He is receiving counsel to deal with the haunting of his past and become the dad he wants to be.
